Why I Made the Switch to Clean Beauty:

I have always been a lover of beauty products. Trying out the newest lipstick, foundation or mascara gave me a rush of excitement like it was Christmas morning every time. Would this new product be the perfect one for me? What can I recommend to my friends and family? 

I spent a lot of time testing out new makeup products, seeing how much pigment they had, how long they lasted, and what colors they looked best with. I loved finding the best of the best performers in the makeup world. 

But until a few years ago, I never thought about what was really inside all these makeup products I loved so much. I assumed that because I lived in a highly-regulated country, my makeup products must be safe. 

But in reality, this couldn’t be farther from the truth. Compared to the European Union, which bans 1400 harmful cosmetic chemicals from its shelves, the United States only outlaws 30! In the U.S., companies are allowed to use ingredients that have been linked to a huge number of health issues, including cancer, without even disclosing these ingredients to us. 

That doesn’t make me feel too good about going to the department store and picking up anything off the shelf to use on my face, don’t you agree?
