How to Ask Your Stylist for the Color you Want and Realistic Expectations

It’s so exciting to step into the salon before getting hair extensions, knowing that you’ll leave with a gorgeous, voluminous head of hair! But what exactly does that perfect head of hair look like to you? What color, cut, and style do you want your extensions to give you? In order to give you hair that makes you swoon, we need to know as your stylists what it is that you want! It’s all about open communication between you and your stylist.

That means that before you get to your consultation, do some research on what look you want us to go for! Stalk your favorite celebrities on Instagram, search #hairgoals on Pinterest, or Google-search images of styles you love. Always feel free to bring in images of the color and cut you want, because this can only help your stylist do the best job possible! 

It’s also important to set realistic expectations for how your extensions will turn out. There’s no reason you shouldn’t expect gorgeous hair when you walk out of the salon, but there are some colors and looks that we can’t do on every client. Be honest with us about your hair history: damage, heat use, bad haircuts, coloring, and we’ll do our best to get you as close as we can to the look you desire. But as always, communication between you and your stylist is the most important thing! They will tell you which looks are possible for you based on your hair’s thickness and texture, and we can work together to help you reach your hair goals!
