FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 Are hair extensions damaging?

With proper installation by a certified artist and good at home maintenance, extensions can actually help you grow out your own hair! Many factors go into hair damage and loss including internal imbalances such as but not limited to thyroid, hormonal, and vitamin deficiencies, externally the water we shower with, elements and chemical services we do. Its important when choosing your hair extension artist to ask questions, be upfront about your daily routines and health conditions that could be affecting your hair. Be sure they are qualified, just like you would a plastic surgeon!

Can I still wash and brush my hair as I normally would?
Yes, I will show you how to properly wash and brush your hair with your new extensions, after about a week it becomes second nature. A proper brush is included in all new extension services. Daily brushing is a must!

Can I wear a ponytail?
YES depending on placement, clients can wear a low, mid or high pony!

Hair extensions only give you long hair right?
No, In fact most of my clients wear 8-16” extensions. A lot of women wear extensions for fullness, not length, o call this a volumizing service! This is one of my favorite services, incredibly beautiful and undetectable. Total game changer!!

What is the maintenance?
I like to say extensions are high maintenance to be low maintenance, because once there installed your set for 2-5 months depending on the method chosen for you. Many extension clients actually give their hair a break with hilights and high maintenance color, since the extension give them so many variations of tones.

I love my hair stylist, I’ve been with them for years, but they don't offer extensions. Will I have to leave them?

Absolutely NOT! I love working with other artists, in fact I pride myself on the relationships i've developed and maintained with many amazing hair stylists here on the seacoast. A collaboration is always fun! I also know my specialities and what fills my cup! If there is ever something my client wants that is not in my wheelhouse I will always be honest and recommend someone I know can create their vision!

Is the hair real?
Yes it’s real, cuticle intact human hair.

It’s very important for me to use ethically sourced hair that is certified and backed by the companies I’ve chosen to work with! Not all hair is created equal, trust me. There is cheap, harshly chemically processed hair out there. Its not pretty, it can cause damage if the wrong density and/ or texture is chosen for your hair type. This is so important and something I don’t think most clients know to ask. Not to worry I’ve got you!

What is the cost?
Cost can vary depending on many factors including method, length, density and time. I like to price in person because It’s not a one size fits all service. Sometimes you only need a few pieces and sometimes we go all out!!
My pricing is thoughtfully based on my experience, education, demand and the luxury hair I use. A thorough consult is so important, that’s where we discuss your goals, possibilities and pricing for your complete customized look!

What if I don’t like them?
In my 20 years of doing hair, I’ve only seen one client not like the feeling of extensions in her head. She felt claustrophobic. She wasn’t my client, but I assisted in the removal.

I trust you will absolutely love your extensions and the instant confidence boost and versatility they give you, but if you find they are not for you, we remove them and your back to your original hair!

How long do extensions take?
This depends on what method you’re doing. Working in a timely manner, I do take my time, taking nice neat clean sections ensuring healthy hair and wear. Color placement and cut are SO important. The cut makes it or breaks it. Anyone can put extensions in, but not everyone can cut them. It’s a speciality all on its own and what sets myself apart from the rest. Often my work is photographed straight because curls are beautiful, but they hide what the extensions really look like. If you can wear your extensions straight, beautifully blended and seamless then it’s going to be amazing curled! I don’t believe in forcing a look. Your hair should look beautiful both ways!

Can I curl and flat iron my extensions?
Yes!! Personally, MY favorite part of wearing extensions is the hold I get in my naturally flat limp hair when I curl it! ! Curls turn into beach waves a little dry shampoo and I can last for days, so good!!

Do I have to use special shampoos/ conditioners and products?
You definitely want to take care of your investment be it color, cut or extensions, after all you wouldn’t wash your silk scarf in harsh powdered soap right? We should treat our hair the same, like a beautiful piece of fine fabric!
Most salon quality brands will work, some are better than others, we will discuss all the tips and tricks during your apt, I keep it simple promise!
